|About Muckno Tri Club|
Tri-Muckno Triathlon is a County Monaghan based Triathlon Club which was set up in 2010.The aim of the club is to bring together those who want train or compete to any standard in triathlons.Whether your aim is simply to get fit, to improve your swimming, cycling or running (or all three) or to compete at an elite level in triathlon, there is a place in the Tri-Muckno Club for you.
The club places an emphasis on the social aspect of the sport and collective training is an important part of our club activities.We welcome anyone interested in any aspect of Triathlon and there is no pressure on members to compete it is up to everyone to choose how far to take it!
The club had a successful first year in 2011 with numerous well attended training sessions and a number of club events including our annual Duathlon on St Patricks Day, the Wetlands Duathlon at Ballybay, and two triathlons at Monaghan. The club held the inagural Intercounties triathlon at Hollywood lake, this was an extremely successful event with over 120 compeditors from accross Ireland.
The club is currently preparing another busy schedule of events in 2014. We will once again kick off the year with our Duathon at Annyalla on St Patricks Day (see runireland.com).This will be followed up with the main event on our calendar, the Inter-Counties Cup Triathlon at Ballinode, Co Monaghan (set at Hollywood lake)Â race information and entry details will be posted on the club website shortlyÂ see also runireland.com.We will once again run the Wetlands Duathlon in July, the Ballybay triathlon in August and the a club members triathlon event towards the end of the season.
The main on-going club activities are the organised, collective training events which have become increasing well attended over the winter months in the close season, check out the events calander onÂ the clubÂ website.
Our training is organised both in formal lessons such as our swimming coaching and spinning classes and informal gatherings such as cycle spins and running at various venues which are great training and social occasions.Combined swim, bike and run training sessions are run on evenings at Hollywood lake and Ballybay lake during the summer months with pool, spinning and run sessions during the winter/spring.
Our club membership costs for 2015 are €25 per adult and €20 for students. Club members will receive discounted entry to all club events. Reduced rates have been negotiated by the club for members for formal training sessions.
The club introduced a range of training gear which includes a club hoodie, t-shirt and tri-suits. We intend to expand the range of gear in 2015.
The membership application form should be completed and returned in order to join the club or renew membership for 2015.Please note that members of any club must also be a member of Triathlon Ireland (TI) or purchase a one day license (from TI) to compete in Triathlon Ireland sanctioned events.
